At the threshold of a new year,

G*d of darkness and shadows and light,

we remember again,

that you walk with us, within us, around us,

in our tragedies and our miseries,

in our illnesses and sufferings,

in the unresolved riddles of life.

At the threshold of a new year,

G*d of our bodies and our hearts,

we recall your breath on our necks, your caress on our cheeks,

your touch on our most intimate spaces,

your presence that penetrates deep within us,

through the bodies and hearts of those who connect with us.

At the threshold of a new year,

G*d of unfinished projects and missed opportunities,

we remember that you participate in all our projects and plans,

with their successes and failures,

with their certainties and ambiguities,

and you continue to believe in us, and cheer us on.

At the threshold of a new year,

G*d of comfort food and laughing friends,

we recall the joy of table fellowships,

the smell of familiar street food,

the pleasure of baking accomplishments,

the euphoria of alcoholic beverages,

the gift of surf and turf and foliage,

all from your hands.

At the threshold of a new year,

G*d of spoiled dreams and dashed hopes,

we renew again our faith in your abiding presence,

in our belief that we can use your strength to fortify our weaknesses,

in our trust that we can use your wisdom to enlighten our ignorance,

in our knowledge that we can use your love to expand our hearts.

At the threshold of a new year,

G*d of what was, what is, and what is to come,

we re-entrust ourselves to you,

our bodies,

our minds,

our spirits,

our emotions,

our talents and gifts,

with the firm conviction that you are with us,

within us,

around us,

for now and for all eternity.

May it be so! May it be so!
